Lilly Grotes Medium are boxing

found and built boxes, shrines and boxes, whose interior has transformed them into complex marvels. They are containers of surreal worlds in the tradition of Marcel Duchamp and Joseph Cornell. They tell stories as if in a dream, when the dimensions shift and at each moment surprising encounters are possible. Often she wanders through a mysterious light, in whose appearance Chinese warriors hit rough butcher knives, Lewis Carroll's Alice on ping-pong balls and Meret Oppenheim's furs on the bare spoon. The mounted narrative form and the light production have the boxes together with another medium: the black box of the cinema, because Lilly Grote is also a filmmaker.
