24 h future
by Lilly Grote
24 h FUTURE
is a PRESENTATION.
Lilly Grote opens the world of the imaginary with her boxes. Their light stagings bring fantastic landscapes, cities, spaces, things and photographic fragments into our field of vision. Figures in dream pictures or on stages where gravity seems to be suspended, where proportions are reversed.
Here reality shows her other face.
Lilly Grotes boxes are projection spaces for our perception. They are time machines in miniature.
What does a young girl see in an empty shop window?
Does it look like 24 h future?
All the things found in the boxes and put together by Lilly Grote have a story.
Whether it's a cargo box, the Statue of Liberty, whether it's mailboxes with numbers. Lilly Grotes objets trouves, their finds are found in places that they would not have dreamed.
We can look into these boxes, they can use as a mirror.
Charles Simic quotes in his book on Joseph Cornell:
"You do not do art, you find it. You accept everything as material. "
